American Made Dumpsters offers a complete line of compactor types and sizes to service customers with particular needs. In general, compactors are used when a customer generates a large volume of compactable material or has limited space for the collection of the material. Compactors can come in many shapes and sizes. Some of the common compactors used in the marketplace today are vertical compactors, apartment building compactors, and roll-off compactors. Roll off compactors are divided into two common categories: stationary or breakaway compactors and self-contained compactors. Below is a brief description of each type.
Vertical Compactor
Vertical Compactors, commonly called VIP’s, are best used when a customer generates a large volume of waste materials and is somewhat limited with space for the collection of the materials. The compactors are serviced by a front load truck and normally have 6 cubic yard or 8 cubic yard containers. High volume restaurants are a good example of this application. Please contact us if you would like to meet with a sales specialist regarding the use of a vertical compactor.
Apartment Compactors
Apartment compactors are widely used in high-rise apartment buildings. These apartment structures normally use “trash chutes” to deliver the waste materials to the collection containers at the lower levels of the building. The waste materials are then compacted into commonly used 2 cubic yard containers, and the containers are usually picked-up by front load or rear load trucks. Stationary or Break Away Compactor
Stationary or breakaway compactors involve a ground-mounted compactor connected to a removable roll-off receiver container normally 40 to 42 cubic yards in size (smaller receiver containers are available) for collecting the waste material. This type of compactor is used when there are large volumes of dry, compactable materials being generated and there is not a space limitation issue on-site. The container is then picked-up by roll off truck once it is full. This type of compactor can be used for solid waste or recyclable materials. Please contact us if you would like to meet with a sales specialist regarding the use of a stationary or breakaway compactor.
Self-Contained Compactor
Self-contained compactors are also serviced by a roll-off truck. The major difference from the stationary or breakaway compactor is that this compactor is not a ground-mounted compactor. Instead, the compactor and receiver container are all one complete unit. Once the receiver container is full, the container with compactor attached, is picked-up, taken away for disposal, and then returned and reconnected. The major application for this type of compactor is with large volumes of compactable wet waste.
